The trend of retractable enclosures is catching on. In a very big way.
The concept of moving architecture caught on in Europe before ever coming to the U.S. But it has been quietly existing in the U.S. for over 30 years. Cem Comu, Owner and Founder of Libart International, brought the technology to the U.S. in 2002 and has since partnered with a U.S. based company, Stoett Industries (us!), to oversee the U.S. and Canada manufacturing and operations.
Last month Cem’s company in Turkey started on a major mall project with an innovative concept of combining outdoor street shopping experience with climate-controlled mall shopping convenience. Fitting with Libart’s philosophy of providing “Indoor comfort, outdoor freedom” spaces, the total open space will be 55,000 square feet. The mall features 22 insulated glass openings that are approximately 36′ x 60′ in size.
